Schools & Colleges Many of our treks are ideal for school groups and we are able to customize any itinerary to meet any specific aims and objectives that a school may have. We are in the fortunate position of having close links with many organisations throughout Nepal who would benefit greatly from any form of help from a school group undertaking a project. We can easily find a project that would match all the aims and objectives that a group has and beyond.

We are fully aware of the responsibilities that both the school and teachers have with a foreign trip and we focus at the highest level on the health and safety aspect of our school programmes, especially as we will be in an outdoor environment and often in remote areas. Our UK guides and leaders all hold the UK MLTB Mountain Leader Certificate and also have a minimum of 5 years full time experience in leading groups in the mountain environment. Their extensive experience in working with schools is second to none having delivered many outdoor activities over many years to a wide range of students.. Our staff have well honed people skills and are capable of dealing with all ages and abilites to deliver a high level of exciting, stimulating and powerful learning experiences. Additionally, they have expertise in risk assessing at every level and you can be sure that you will be in the safest of hands for any of our treks. We are always willing to come to any school and give a presentation, without obligation, to teachers, parents and students. We are also willing to visit you for initial planning meetings and discussions. As we are a UK based company offering a wide range of outdoor activities within the UK in addition to our treks in Nepal you may be interested to know that as part of a school trek we are willing to run a wide range of events in order to assist with raising funds. We run events such as The Everest Abseil Challenge which is basically a group aseiling a cumulative height of 29,028ft in a day. Quite a challenge but easily achievable by a keen and dedicated group. We can run this in your local area from a building,a bridge, crag, or even a quarry. We do the research to find the ideal location and create a risk assessment for that particular venue and run the entire event at our cost. All of our staff hold the highest UK mountain qualifications so you are guaranteed to be well looked after.

A trek for a school group offers the exposure to new and stimulating environments and provides a valuable out-of-classroom learning experience as well as highlighting specific areas of the curriculum, e.g. Geography, Humanities and Religious Studies. It can also provide the opportunity for a specific case study. There is really no limit to the itineraries that a school group can undertake providing the group is well briefed and when necessary undergoes a certain amount of training and assessment. The reaction from our school groups is consistently positive, enthusiastic and always very rewarding, in terms of unforgettable experiences.
If you have ideas on a particular destination within Nepal we will be happy to provide you with a suitable itinerary.
  Incorporating religous and histrocial details
Alternatively, if the concept of a trekking programme appeals to you without having a particular destination in mind, just call our ofice and we will be pleased to recommend itineraries that are particularly suited to your group’s interests, aspirations, abilities and the time duration available.

Our treks give school groups the opportunity to experience a wonderful variety of scenery, environments, people and religion and, as well as the physical challenge, a trek with Himalayan Horizons is sure to enlighten and enrich the mind of each student. Many of our treks are also suitable destinations for a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award qualifying venture. On all of our school trips teachers /group leaders are provided with complementary travel.

Charity Treks and Events A Charity Trek or ascent of a Himalayan Trekking Peak can be a wonderfully rewarding and profitable fundraising tool for charities with the added benefit of potential media exposure which will almost certainly enhance the potential for the charity to gain further recognition. On our Charity Treks, not only do we run the trek but we also provide a build up phase prior to the trek which includes a training programme, a 'free' hillwalking weekend in the Lake District and we also offer a fundraising event using our staff and equipment at our expense to boost your funds.

We often run fancy dress abseils, 3 peak hillwalking challenges and even paddling the length of Windermere in our fantastic fleet of open canoes or our sea kayaks - the list is endless! We know that we can make a significant contribution in assisting to raise funds for the people that matter and Himalayan Horizons are determined to support any group who are committed to undertake a charity trek with all of the support that our business can provide. Please contact us to discuss how a Charity Trek can raise funds for your charity. Tens of thousands of pounds can be easily raised by the committed enthusiasts who sign up for the adventure of a lifetime and who better to do it with - Himalayan Horizons.

Please remember that it is essential to start the planning for any group (especially for schools) very early, preferably 9 - 12 months before the proposed departure, certainly if fundraising is likely to be involved.
