Our treks are led by an highly experienced and qualified guides and leaders who are selected not only on the basis that they are professional, conscientious and reliable but also that they are resourceful and ready to tackle any unexpected occurrence. Their skills include the ability to guide you through a remote wilderness area without too many unexpected eventualities. They are all first aid qualified and experts in remote first aid with extensive knowledge of trekking and climbing at altitude. Our staff are highly experienced in risk assessing and where neccessary they will exercise the appropriate procedures to maintain your health and safety at all times. Their knowledge on the local area is second to none and they are able to speak some basic Nepalese apart from Kami who is fluent. They will always be happy to pass on their enthusiasm for wilderness and adventure travel as well as local knowledge to all members within the group. Above all we want our trek leaders to be someone whose company you will enjoy immensly and who give you maximum confidence in their ability at all times. Jason is the owner of the company and one of the directors. As a fully qualified mountain instructor he has been working in the outdoors full time since 1988 and he started Distant Horizons the parent company in 1993. Since then he has been running a wide range of mountaineering, climbing, canoe, kayak and wilderness courses both in the UK and abroad. Jason leads a number of the treks and climbs in Nepal otherwise he can be found in the office plotting and planning future exciting treks and expeditions. |

‘Bruce is happiest when climbing a mountain or paddling down a river, He has been working as an outdoor instructor for some years now and when not at home in the Lake District he is traveling around the world. Recent adventures have involved paddling the Orange River in South Africa, using home made plywood canoes and climbing Ama Dablam (6865m) in Nepal.

Graham is an engineer by trade but his true passion is being within mountain environments leading trips both in the UK and the Himalayas. Graham spends much of his time exploring the remoter highlands of Scotland and when given the chance heads out to North America to savour the delights of the fantastic ice climbing during the winter months. He is a qualified mountain leader with a summer and winter certificate and he enjoys nothing more than sharing his enthusiasm for mountains with others. Graham is based near Roslin just outside Edinburgh, right next to the chapel where the recent 'Da Vinci Code' bestseller ends. |

| Kami Nurbu Sherpa - Nepal | Kami 'Noodle' Sherpa is our full time Nepalese guide. He is a professionally recognized mountain guide in Nepal and holds his level one certification. Kami lives in Ghat Village with his wife Pasang and his daughter Diantu. Ghat is located between Lukla and Namche Bazaar in the Everest Region. Kami has extensive knowledge and experience of the Khumbu region where he has lived all of his life. With his excellent English, constant smiling, story telling and singing you are sure to have a great time in Kami's company whilst also being in his highly experienced and safe hands. He will have you speaking and singing in Nepali before you know it! |
