This fantastic trek visits all of the high valleys of the Khumbu, taking us to the Gokyo lakes and Everest Base Camp. We have extra time at Gokyo to explore the upper valley, visiting the fourth lake and ascending 'Frostbitten' Fingers which provides the most extensive view of Everest in the whole of the Khumbu. With time to explore villages and monasteries and to sample the incredible hospitality of the Sherpa people, this trek is unbeatable. Our trek begins with an unforgettable flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Walking through delightful Sherpa villages in the Dudh Kosi valley we make our way to Namche Bazaar and beyond to Gokyo's alpine lakes and an ascent of Gokyo Ri. The views from here are tremendous, a 360 degree panorama of snow capped peaks, glaciers and valleys including an incredible view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. We cross the spectacular Cho La pass to access the Khumbu valley from Gokyo which provides a challenging and exciting day.

Our camp at Gorak Shep provides the opportunity to ascend Kala Pattar for even more spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including the black rocky ramparts of Everest's south-west face. We also have a day to visit Everest Base Camp at the foot of the immensely impressive Khumbu icefall, a challenging walk but well worth the effort to stand at the foot of the most famous and highest mountain on the planet. Our return journey will take us to Tangboche monastery, the most important centre of Buddhism in the area, before ending our trek at Lukla and our exciting mountain return flight to Kathmandu.
