At 6476metres Mera is one of Nepal's highest trekking peaks and boasts an absolutely stunning summit panorama, which takes in 5 of the world's 8000 metre (26240 feet) peaks - Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and Cho Oyu. Our approach to Mera begins with the short and exciting flight to the mountain airstrip at Lukla and continues through the high and lovely Hinku Valley. Steady acclimatisation contributes to an unrivalled success rate on the mountain. Although physically very demanding on account of the altitude, the climbing is non-technical, on snow slopes that rarely exceed 30 degrees. |

Mera Peak is the highest mountain in Nepal which can be climbed by trekkers without technical mountaineering experience. It is an easy, albeit arduous, snow walk, but the rewards are some of the most impressive panoramic views in Nepal. It is a personal goal for many and we aim to assist in making everyone's dream come true in reaching the summit of this amazing peak. |
|
Our route to Mera Peak begins in Lukla from where we cross the Pangkongma La pass (to reach the remote Hinku valley. We then follow this northwards along a beautiful wooded trail to reach the summer pastures of Tangnag. We then begin climbing steadily up to the Mera La (5400m) and our high camp on the mountain itself. Summit day begins in the very early hours of the morning, ensuring we are on the summit before 9am. The ascent is simple snow walking but at this altitude it is hard work and perseverance is required to reach the summit. |
